FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the minimum auto insurance requirements in Texas?

Texas requires liability coverage of at least $30,000 per injured person, $60,000 per accident for injuries, and $25,000 for property damage (often written 30/60/25). Those minimums only pay for damage you cause to others, not for your own car or injuries, so most drivers benefit from higher limits plus collision, comprehensive, and uninsured motorist coverage.

Can I save money by bundling home and auto?

Usually, yes. Most carriers give a multi-policy discount when your home and auto are with the same company, and bundling also gives you one renewal date and one point of contact. We compare bundled and separate options so you can see which actually costs less.

Do you offer renters insurance?

Yes. Renters insurance covers your belongings and your personal liability, and it is usually inexpensive. Many landlords require it, and it can often be bundled with your auto policy for a discount.

Does homeowners insurance cover hail and wind damage in Texas?

Most Texas homeowners policies cover wind and hail, but many use a separate wind and hail deductible set as a percentage of your dwelling coverage, such as 1% or 2%. In some coastal areas, wind is excluded and covered through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. Flood is never covered by a standard homeowners policy and needs its own flood policy.

What is the difference between term and whole life insurance?

Term life covers you for a set period, such as 10, 20, or 30 years, and costs less, which makes it a good fit for protecting a mortgage or children until they are grown. Whole life lasts your entire life and builds cash value, but costs more. Many families start with term coverage, and we can help you compare both.
